Independent Test

When a person is arrested for DUI in Georgia, he/she should be read the Georgia Implied Consent Warning. The warning indicates that a person is required to take a blood, breath, or urine test or their driver's license will be suspended for a year. However if a test is taken, they may face a driver's license suspension as well. Once a person takes the test designated by the police officer, they are entitled to their own independent test at their own expense. In 15 years of being an attorney, I have only seen a handful of people exercise their right to an independent test.
